Strike day three is Tuesday 8th November at Fujitsu Manchester and will focus on job security. The plans are:
- Picket 7-10am (get there from 6:30am to help set up if you can) at Fujitsu, Central Park, Northampton Road, Manchester, M40 5BP. Central Park Metrolink stop.
- Go for a brew and discuss the campaign
- 12-2pm leafleting at BBC & ITV (current / prospective Fujitsu customers) at Salford’s Media City. Media City Metrolink stop, or park at Unite, Merchants Quay, Salford Quays, Salford M50 3SG
- Ringing members outside the Manchester bargaining unit to build the “Don’t be Fujitsu Voice-less” campaign, from the Unite Salford office
Today’s strike highlighted the gender pay gap and the slashing of pensions for many over-60s. It was timed for “Equal Pay Day” in Fujitsu, the day after which women would, on average, be working for free if they were paid the same hourly rate as their male colleagues. Unite published a detailed dossier about pay inequality in Fujitsu.
