Fujitsu Manchester dispute update

Unite members at Fujitsu Manchester are out on strike again over pay, pensions and job security:

  • Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, Monday 16th January
  • Friday 20th January

Today members decided that the strike planned for Thursday 19th January should be suspended because the company has agreed to further talks and indicated a little movement on some aspects of pay. Depending on progress in the talks on 19th, it is possible the action on 20th could be suspended, so watch this space. However, we still have a long way to go to resolve all the issues in dispute.

Whether you are a member or not, all employees of Fujitsu Services Limited in the Manchester bargaining unit are entitled to take part in the industrial action. Whether you’ve struck before or not, help make these strike days effective and secure a decent settlement. Only Unite members can get financial support from the union when striking, so if you’ve not joined yet, please do. More people are joining the union all the time in response to the company’s behaviour.

On each strike day there will be picketing 7-10am at Fujitsu, Central Park, Northampton Road, Manchester, M40 5BP (opposite Central Park Metrolink station). If you are helping set up, please be there from 6:30am. Please dress warmly and bring flasks of hot water to make up drinks.

From noon on Thursday we will also be leafleting at the BBC (a potential Fujitsu customer) in Media City, Salford.

If you’re striking and want to play an active part but can’t get to Central Park or Media City, please email the internal Unite mailbox with your home contact details and reps can arrange campaigning activities you can do from home.

Details of campaign activities on Friday and Monday will be announced in due course.

Unite members working for Fujitsu Services Limited in the Manchester bargaining unit have taken 32 strike days over compulsory redundancies, victimisation of reps and breaches of agreements. This follows 27 previous days of strike action.

Industrial action is currently suspended but the fight continues.
